CLEARWATER, Fla. – Carmen R. Dodaro, 79, of Clearwater, passed gently into God's loving arms Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones after a long, strong battle with colon cancer. |
He was blessed with his wife and best friend, Barbara, and a loving and faithful daughter, Monique, and her husband, John Butterfield, whom he thought of as his son. He also took great pride in his adoring grandchildren, Kate, Meghan, Amy and Gretchen, all of Crystal Lake, and Danielle of Baltimore, Md.; his two special nieces, Ashlee and Casey of Ocean Springs, Miss.; brother-in-law, Steve; and mother and father-in-law, Earlene and Leon Campbell of Jackson, Miss.
He leaves behind many wonderful friends, other relatives and the special love of his two golden retrievers, Rover and Buffy.
Carmen, an only child, was born in Rockford and was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Vera.
A graduate of Northern Illinois University, he was especially proud to be a United States Marine Corps fighter pilot.
He retired from Delta Airlines after 33 years of service. After retirement, he pursued his love of sailing, fishing, motorcycling, golfing and traveling.
Funeral services were today in Clearwater at St. Brendan's Catholic Church.
