McHENRY – Fernando "Dusty" A. Yori, 95, of McHenry, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at JourneyCare in Barrington.|
Born Jan. 17, 1918, in Carney, Iowa, he was the son of Ernesto and Fausta (Cervetti) Iori. On Oct. 9, 1943, in Highland Park, he married Marie L. Ugaste.
He served in the United States Army with the 156th General Hospital caring for the wounded from the Battle of the Bulge and the invasion of Normandy. He worked in the coal mines in Carney, Iowa, was a mechanic and shop supervisor for Blue and Village Cab and was a building maintenance engineer.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing and gardening and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and was known as "Buckoo" to his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; son Ron (Lynda) Yori; daughter Donna (John) Podkowa; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond (Margaret) Yori.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
The visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the service at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry.
Interment will be in Ankeny, Iowa, on Wednesday.
