McHENRY – Jerome A. "Jerry" Johnson, 66, of McHenry, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry. |
He was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Rockford, to Warren and Aileen (Reynolds) Johnson. On April 10, 1995, he married Star Norini in Woodstock.
Jerry was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a devout Christian and was very involved with The Chapel in McHenry. He was an avid fisherman, photographer and banjo player. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and friend to many.
Survivors include his wife, Star; his children, Wendy (Joe) Callahan, Tracy Johnson and Garrett (Kari) Johnson; stepchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Simmons, Penny Steffen and Kenneth (Laura) Ptaszek Jr.; grandchildren, Jordan, Christopher, Julia, Alex, Zachary, Samantha, Emily, Andrea, Madelaine, Ryan and Avery; a sister, Jan (Shawn) Morrison; a brother, Larry (Sharon) Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at The Chapel, 330 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich.
