PHOENIX – Merlin Eugene "Moon" DeWalt passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, in Phoenix.|
He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Sparland. He was an honored World War II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy. They moved to Arizona in 1956 from Illinois.
He is survived by six children, Donald E. (Wanda S.) DeWalt, Peggy A. (Robert A.) Boelke, Marsha K. (Bruce W.) Pitrof, Bruce E. (Diane J.) DeWalt, Stephen M. DeWalt and Patricia J. Lapadura; eight grandchildren, Wayne, Raymond, Tamara, Ronald, Eric, Jason, Jared and Angela; many great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; step-great- -grandchildren; brothers, Jack, Thomas and Gary; sisters, Katherine and Nancy; and many nieces and nephews.
Five brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
A memorial Mass was on Monday, Aug. 19, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8620 N. Seventh St., Phoenix. Interment was on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix.
