ALGONQUIN – Virginia A. Feldmann, 81, of Algonquin, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington. |
Virginia was born May 24, 1932, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Marguerite Fitzgerald and Joseph Laufketter.
She graduated from Joliet Central High School in 1950. She went on to Northern Illinois University, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1954. Virginia taught grade school at Coleman Elementary School in Elgin and spent 23 years teaching sixth grade at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, retiring in 1998. Later, she supervised student teachers at NIU, leaving the position in 2009.
Virginia is survived by her son, Chuck (Stacey); daughter, Julie (Gary) Edwards; son, Doug (Angie); four grandchildren, Annie and Charlie Feldmann and Amanda and Ryan Mullen; brother, Dan (Mary) Maher; and brother, Joseph (Della) Maher.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Feldmann.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 21, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin. Burial will be private in St. John Nepomucene Church Cemetery, Fox River Grove. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 201 S. Main St., Algonquin, and again Friday at the church from 9 to 10 a.m.
