Anthony "Tony" Pintozzi, Sr., age 87, of McHenry, passed away peacefully August 6, 2018, with his wife by his side.

Tony was born on February 24, 1931, to the late Charles and Maria (Meccia) Pintozzi. On November 29, 1952, he married the love of his life, Maureen Etten, at St. Nicholas of Tolentine in Chicago.Tony grew up in Chicago and attended St. Rita of Cascia High School. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who was dedicated to his Catholic faith, family, and extremely proud of his Italian heritage.

He was an entrepreneur, visionary, mentor, and self-made man who worked until his last day. He was the founder of Pintz & Co. which later became International Decorators, Inc., Chairman of the Northern Illinois Medical Board, President of Painting & Decorating Contractors Association of Northern Illinois, co-founder of Northern Illinois Painting & Drywall Institute, Chairman of Painters District Council 30 Pension Fund, Secretary of Painters District Council 30 Health & Welfare Fund, co-founder of Finishing Contractors Association of Illinois, St. Patrick/Montini Catholic School Commission, St. Patrick Church lector, member of the McHenry County Regional School Board, and the city of McHenry Police Commissioner.

He was also involved with Kiwanis, a member of McHenry Country Club, and coached little league. Tony lived his life with gratitude, always generous in helping others, and a friend to all. His infinite words of wisdom will live on. In his free time, Tony enjoyed golf and time spent with his family at their cabin on Plum Lake in the Northwoods. Tony will be remembered for driving around town in his familiar white car enjoying his pipe.

He is survived by, Maureen, his loving wife of 65 years; dear children, Mary (Jon) Meyer, Debbie (Michael) Cajthaml, Donna (Buzz) Frett, Maureen (Mike) Pabst, Annette (Steve) Cuda, Cathy (Tom) Campbell, Patti (Bill) Preston, Butch (Missy) Pintozzi; cherished grandchildren, Stephanie (Jovan) Strumberger, Bryan (Joy Anna) Meyer, Michael (Ashley) Cajthaml, Christopher Frett, Jaci (Matt) Hartman, Tom (Abbey) Pabst, Dan (Becky) Pabst, Elizabeth (Jake) Smith, Maria (Kevin) Hill, Katie Cuda, Jeff Campbell, Matt (Becca) Campbell, Christine Campbell, Sara (Pat) McDonald, Marguerite Preston, Joe (Erin) Pintozzi, Mary (Luke) Naidicz. and Olivia Pintozzi; and 16 beloved great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings, Anne Marie (George) Cina, Charles (Rose Marie) Pintozzi, and Nick (Connie) Pintozzi; as well as his brother-in-law, Joe (Jean) Etten.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Joseph and Mary Etten; and sister-in-law, Marcella (Wayne) Dixon.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Church of Holy Apostles 5211 W. Bull Valley Rd. McHenry IL. Funeral Mass will be on August 10, 2018, at 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 3500 W. Washington St. McHenry IL. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Countryside Cemetery in McHenry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Tony's Alma Mater, St. Rita of Cascia High School 7740 S. Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60620 or to Montini Catholic School (Tuition Assistance), 1405 N Richmond Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
