McHENRY – Barbara J. Erb, 89, of McHenry, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, in Richland Hills, Texas. She was born Sept. 1, 1923, in DeKalb, to Halstead and Florence Hardin.|
Barbara was a charter member of First Baptist Church of McHenry, and she lived life with a strong faith and love for Jesus Christ. A die-hard Cubs fan, she was famous for her apple pie and cookies, and she loved to play pinochle late into the night with her grandchildren. She will be remembered forever for her radiant smile and fun sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, C. Edward Erb Jr.; son, Jerry D. Erb; and grandson, Jerry D. Erb Jr.; as well as her sister, Mildred Wolfenberger; and brother, William Hardin.
Survivors include sons, Edward Erb (Pat) and Danny Erb; daughter, Diana Johnson (Carl); six grandchildren, Michelle Erb, Benjamin Johnson, Rebecca Munoz (Carlos), Michael Johnson, Melody Johnson and Matthew Johnson (Amanda); five great-grandchildren, Trenton Fortune, Nicholas Armstrong and Trey, Alexis and Isabella Munoz; as well as many other dear family members and friends.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, at First Baptist Church, 509 Front St., McHenry. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Youth Fund at First Baptist Church, McHenry.
