Betty J. Argy, age 84, of Crystal Lake passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington. She was born on January 30, 1930, in Villa Park, IL the daughter of Sherman and Jesse Dockery. In 1976 Betty and her husband James founded "Betty's Ice Cream" which they ran for 25 years until its closing in 2001. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles, but most of all she loved being a mom and grandma. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Betty attended Family Alliance in Woodstock and really enjoyed her time there.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn (Larry) Assell, James (Patricia) Larson, Debbie (Joe) Franzone, Pam (George) Smith, Denise (late Carter) Kukovec, Norma Gerdes, Michael Argy and Richard (Lisa) Argy; her grandchildren, Dan, Bob, Pat, Carolyn, Carrie, Tony, Angelo, Sarah, Elizabeth, Amanda, Josh, Jessi, William, Eric, Joe, Emily and Nick; along with 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2009; her sisters, Ruby, Thelma, Ruth and Lorraine; a brother, Sherman Jr.; and her Parents
Visitation will be held Friday, May 23 from 3:00 PM until the service at 8:00 PM at the Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 West U.S. Hwy 14, in Crystal Lake. The funeral will begin Saturday at 7:30 AM and burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
