Betty Jane (Hoover) Affield was born on March 6, 1935, in Frederick, MD; the daughter of Theo A. Hoover and Viola M. (Hetterly) Hoover. Betty grew up in Northwest Detroit. She returned home to her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2018.

Betty is a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in McHenry, IL, and has served by singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and serving as a Deacon and Stephen Minister.

Her career spanned 40 years in Juvenile Justice. She began as a probation officer in Cook County, IL, and concluded as CM of the Juvenile Bureau of McHenry County. She's been recognized by the McHenry County Board, and the State of Illinois, for dedication in the field of probation.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Jodi Romani; grandsons, Samuel and Micah Romani, all of Arizona; her sisters, Nancy Stoner of Michigan and Diane Hipkins of Virginia; her niece, Jane (Matthew) Gannon of Michigan); her nephews, Jerry (Christie) Stoner of Iowa and Dorian Hipkins of Virginia; and many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Mark Romani; and nephews, Daniel and James Stoner.

Betty was also step mother to Christopher and Monica Affield. In addition, Betty was the honored Godmother of Molly (Affield) Luska.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on September 14, 2018, with Pastor Bill Torgesen, officiating, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 2107 W. Lincoln Road, McHenry, IL 60051, (815) 385-5388. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, on Greenwood Road in the Village of Greenwood, IL.
