Catherine Mary Alan Obituary
Catherine Mary Alan

Born: Romansville, PA

Died: July 29, 2014

Catherine Mary Alan (Dyson), departed to eternal rest on July 29, 2014. Catherine Mary (Dyson) Alan of Plano, Texas was born in Romansville, PA and resided in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she attended Springbrook High School. Catherine later attended College in Northern Illinois where she obtained her nursing degree and devoted her nursing career to caring for the elderly and disabled. She spent time nursing in Crystal Lake, Illinois and then Lewisville, Texas as a Director of Nursing for an assisted living facility. Catherine succumbed to End Stage Renal Disease. During her life was the fortunate recipient of two kidney transplants. Her medical treatments are chronicled in various medical journals. She was one of the first organ transplant patients in North America to bear a healthy child, and was one of the first 10 people in the world to receive a successful organ transplant using a new experimental procedure in 2001, which is now commonplace in the transplant community. She repaid these generous gifts by becoming a nurse and giving freely to patients and families while assisting them in their final days with compassion and unparalleled care.

Catherine is survived by her husband of 29 years, Jeff Alan; their daughter, Angela; her brothers, James, Ronald and Daniel Dyson; and was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Elizabeth Dyson.
