Charles Ackerman departed on July 7 2014, due a battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Survived by wife, Beverly, Married 62 years. Daughter Resae Robinett, Dallas, Texas. Son Rodney Ackerman, McHenry, IL, Rhonda Roberts, Melbourne, FL., Rachel Ackerman, Melbourne,FL. 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Pamela and son Ralph. Also his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Charles was a master carpenter, in the union for 57 yrs. Was a part time police officer with the city of McHenry for 6yrs. He belonged to the McHenry Moose Lodge for 65 plus yrs, also longtime standing member of American Legion and VFW. Employed by Robbino Ladd in McHenry, Il., until he retired and moved to Texas. Where he soon went to work for Jack Crosby in Austin, TX. While in Texas, he enjoyed dancing, fishing and camping. He and his wife then moved to Fredricksburg, VA, where he worked building Ryland Homes for 3 yrs.
Soon he was to retire to home in Melbourne, FL. Where he spent many days his boat fishing with his brother, brother-in-laws or grandkids. He also spent a lifetime with trips to Las Vegas, Hawaii and many camping trips. His last trip was the Space Coast Honor Flight to D.C., honoring the WWII veterans. He devoted his life to his work but he also took the time to teach us all. Resae went with him to work and learned many skills as a carpenter. Rodney also went on to become a master carpenter.
Will hold a celebration of his life in August at the Ringwood Methodist Church.
