FOX LAKE – Don H. Marquardt, 74, formerly of Woodstock, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at his home in Fox Lake.|
He was born in Chicago on Dec. 9, 1937, to Henry G. and Eleanore (Lange) Marquardt.
Don enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for five years. He owned a construction company before starting his career as a truck driver.
He enjoyed collecting Department 56 Villages and had a large display for everyone to enjoy. He also enjoyed reading. He was loved and will be missed.
He is survived by three sons, Scott Marquardt, Robert (Beckie) Marquardt and Rob (Lisa) Lange; three daughters, Melanie (Thomas) Modrich, Tammy (Scott) Swenson and Laura (Brian) Zarembski; a brother, Wayne (Diane) Marquardt; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen; and a grandson, Ryan Marquardt.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Woodstock. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5040 will provide burial honors.
