BELVIDERE – Donald L. Stoxen, 88, of Belvidere and formerly of Harvard, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Northwoods Care Centre in Belvidere. He was born Nov. 4, 1923, to Ralph Q. and Frances (Meyer) Stoxen in Lake County. On Oct. 6, 1945, he married Harriet Wunderlich at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harvard. He was retired from being a lifelong livestock and grain farmer. Donald was a member of Christ the Rock Church in Rockford. He was involved in the McHenry County 4-H auctions, a director of the Federal Land Bank in Woodstock, on the Woodstock hospital board, a founding member of the McHenry Livestock Association, and a chairman at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Harvard, where he was instrumental in the building of the new St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Harriet of Belvidere; one son, Richard (Lynda) Stoxen of Harvard; one daughter, Gloria (David) Pankonin of Harvard; six grandchildren, Lori (Rich) Gajdzik of Crystal Lake, Kristi (Dr. John) Crisham of Oregon, Ill., Ann (Casey) Hall of Richfield, Minn., Erica (Dwayne) Faria of Midlothian, Va., Isaac (Tamara) Pankonin of Aurora and Christina (Dr. Christopher) Clancy of Maumee, Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren, Richie and Andrew Gajdzik, Katherine and Claire Crisham, Oliver Hall, Henry and Phoebe Faria, and Kayla, Timothy and Kenneth Pankonin; one brother, Robert Stoxen of Harvard; one sister, Frances (Roland) Herrmann of Green Valley, Ariz.; and one sister-in-law, Elzora Stoxen of Harvard. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ralph A. Stoxen. The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 16, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1601 Garfield Road, Harvard, and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, July 17, at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard. The Rev. Phil Hanson and the Rev. Michael D. Pfingsten will officiate. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the
