BELVIDERE – Eldora Ruby Johnson, 77, of Belvidere, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at her home in Belvidere.
She was born March 24, 1935, in Osseo, Wis., to Melvin John and Ruby (Hermanson) Olson. She married Harry T. Johnson on Aug. 31, 1963, at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock. Eldora graduated with honors from Roosevelt University. She enjoyed painting and was an artist for the Chicago Tribune. She was an avid Cubs fan. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her husband, Harry T. Johnson; her son, Peter T. Johnson; three daughters, Pamela Mazur, Kirsten Johnson and Jennifer Johnson; three grandchildren, Felina, Tessa and Kayla; five great-grandchildren, Gwen, Jack, Ariya, Shria and Deven; and two sisters, Irene Steinwehe and Dolores Buchanan.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah; a brother, Gerald; and a sister, Luverne.
The visitation will be from 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, until the time of the funeral service at noon at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock.
