Elmer "Jim" Gorham, age 75, of McHenry, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Sunday, December 30, 2018, at JourneyCare Hospice, Woodstock.

He was born October 27, 1943, to the late Henry and Avice (nee Pierce) Gorham in Woodstock, IL. On May 15, 1965, he married the love of his life, Sandra Rodenkirch, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, McHenry. Jim attended Marion Central High School, graduating in 1963. After 17 years of service, he retired from the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad. He later worked for Motorola until he retired. He always looked forward to attending their baseball, softball, and soccer games. Jim was known as Papa to his grandkids and many others. Sandra and Jim enjoyed traveling together and took annual road trips to visit National Parks. They loved wandering the backroads all across the country. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sandra; dear children, Debra (Patrick) Burns, Dawn (the late Mark) McMichael, and James (Sonja) Gorham; and cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Louis, Zachary, and Rachael.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur, Leo, and Mary.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and will continue Saturday, January 5, from 10:00am until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00am at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry.
