Harriet F. Robbins, age 93, passed away on October 7, 2014, at 11:40 a.m.
She was born to Walter and Lillian Fanter on April 30, 1921, in Algonquin, IL. She attended her formative school years in Algonquin. Her family moved to Crystal lake where she attended grade school & high school. She graduated from Central High School in 1940.
She married Sgt. Ernest Robbins, her high school sweetheart on January 3, 1942, in Tullahoma, TN. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1997, in Brooksville, FL.
They had two children, Beverly, who proceeded her in death in 1994. She is survived by one son, Bruce (Patricia) in Flanders, NJ; and five grandchildren, Tanya, Brian, Philip, Terry & Gary. Five great grandchildren; a brother, Roger Fanter; nieces and nephews.
After 23 years in the service Ernie retired in 1965. Ernie & Harriet bought the Blachard Insurance Agency (Robbins Insurance) and remained owners for 10 years, selling the business they retired to Brooksville, FL, in 1986, and lived there for 20 years. Ernie passed away January 17, 1996 after a long illness. Harriet remained in Florida until May 2005. She moved back to Crystal Lake to be near family and remained until her passing.
Visitation will be held at the First Congregation Church at 461 Pierson St. Crystal Lake, on October 9, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. refreshments following service in Fellowship Hall at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be distributed.
