Jewell Heideman Obituary

ALGONQUIN – Jewell Loretta Heideman, 96, of Algonquin, died peacefully Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at her home.

She was born in Bessemer, Mich., to Joseph and Catherine (Maslanka) Kulik. She married Paul Heideman of East Dundee in 1942, shortly before he left for service in World War II. In 1948 they moved to Algonquin, where they raised five children. She and Paul enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage before he passed away in 2006.

She also worked outside the home as a nanny, dressmaker, Realtor, caterer, personal companion, and household supervisor. She volunteered her time with Saint Margaret Mary Altar and Rosary society as well as in their children's schools.

She was a devoted mother, fantastic cook, avid gardener, and friend to everyone she met, and had a beautiful singing voice. She felt blessed, and her blue eyes twinkled when any of her grandchildren came to visit.

She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Edward (Jeanne) Heideman of Friendship, Wis., Gregory (Margaret) Heideman of Crystal Lake, Lee Ann (Charles) Martens of Lake Geneva, Wis., Torri (William) Stewart of Phoenix and daughter-in-law Catherine Heideman of Apopka, Fla.

She is survived by seven grandchildren, Jon (Kara), Charles (Laura), Daniel (Kristine), Paul and Robert Heideman and Kathryn and William (Kelly) Stewart; and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Dylan Heideman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; a son, Robert; and all of her seven siblings.

A memorial service will be in her honor at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at St. Margaret Mary Church in Algonquin.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any donations be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.

Aunt Jewell was always fun to visit down by the Fox River. Always had fun playing in her yard and swimming in the Fox. I will certainly miss her. - Tom Biesterfeld
