Johnathon Leopold Obituary
He was born March 26, 1994, in McHenry, to Joseph J. Leopold and Katherine L. (Bishop) Kugler.
He lived in Belvidere for the past 7 1/2 years, moving from Marengo. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. At the time of his death, he was a student at Belvidere High School. He was a member of Junior Explorers through the Belvidere police department. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and video gaming. He was interested in joining the Army.
He is survived by his parents, Katherine L. (Daniel J.) Kugler of Belvidere and Joseph J. (Susanne M.) Leopold of Crystal Lake; his siblings, Ashley Lynn Leopold, Joseph J. Leopold Jr. and Joshua Franklin Kugler; a stepbrother, Zachary Lindskoog; two stepsisters, Taylor Lindskoog and Gianna Lindskoog; his maternal grandparents, Janet and Richard Bishop; his paternal grandparents, Joyce and Wayne Christian; two great-grandmothers, Laura Ramsey and Genevieve Edwards; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph Leopold.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.

My John, I am soo sorry. I did not know that you were going to have another seizure. Back in January, when you were in the hospital, they never told me that you could have one that would kill you while you were sleeping. My pain and guilt is soo severe that i do not know what to do anymore. I love you forever and always. You are my hero. I found your poem, it is beautiful. It will be published soon. It is amazing all of your friends you had who loved you. I wish I knew them while you were here. Please, Please, come visit me soon. I need to see you and hear you and feel you. You will always be my favorite...(John) haha you always knew the truth. Love, mom

My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. I am a friend of Mark Fox and met John through him a couple of times. I enjoyed his sense of humor. I met Katherine a few times as well at Applebee's and Cuppa Joe's, you are a special person and I loved hearing about John. My heart goes out to you and hope you know how much we all care.

John was one of my best friends and always will be. He had me smile even when i wanted to cry. I still remember him telling me about his dreams that he had and how he would talk to me all the time. Im going to miss him dearly. If the Leopold family needs anything just contact me and il help in someway. There may not be alot of people that know what their families going through but i am one that does sadly. Im very sorry for your loss my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
