Joseph T. Arrigo, 88, of Palatine, IL.

Beloved husband of the late Mildred T. Arrigo; loving father of Joseph T. (Barbara) Arrigo, Jr., Bob Arrigo and Nancy (Mike) Oswald; proud grandfather of Katie (John) Wozniak, Bobby, Tommy and Danny Arrigo, Tom (Angie), Dave (Sydney) and Julie Oswald; cherished great grandfather of Naomi, Natasha and Nora Wozniak.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Millie; his parents, Frank and Elizabeth; and brother Frank.

A graduate of DePaul University, Joseph served in the US Army and Illinois National Guard. He earned his PhD in organic chemistry at Northwestern University. He was an Industrial Research Chemist for 27 years followed by a second career as an educator in Chemistry with appointments at Northwestern University, Illinois State University and Loyola University. His greatest joy was giving freely of his time speaking to local school children about chemistry in everyday life.

Visitation Sunday, January 7, 2018, 2:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral Monday, January 8, 2018, 9:30 AM from Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine to St. Theresa Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
