LAKE IN THE HILLS – Linda R. Tonkin, 42, recently of Lake in the Hills, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at home.|
She was born Oct. 9, 1970, in Woodstock, to Thomas James and Gertrude Jean (Smith) Tonkin. She was a lifelong resident of Crystal Lake and recently of Lake in the Hills.
Linda was a forklift driver at Weber Grill for several years. She enjoyed riding her Harley with friends and family and also enjoyed crafts and beer tastings. She attended college on a softball and volleyball scholarship and played volleyball in leagues after college. Linda was happiest when she was with her family whom she loved fiercely.
She is survived by her sisters, Susan Schultz, Sandra Jenkins, Sherrie (James) Kent-Hales, Gay (Ed) Ward, Laura (Pat) Surma and Terrie (Shane) Northum; and brothers, Brett Tonkin and Chet (Kristine) Tonkin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her father and mother; a brother, Bart; and brothers-in-law, Steven and William "Bill".
The visitation will be from 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, until the service at 1 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry.
