Loren C. Lemmon Jr. Obituary
Loren C. Lemmon, Jr.

Born: December 18, 1953

Died: March 8, 2018

Loren C. Lemmon, Jr., 64, of Huntley, died March 8 after a long illness.

The son of Loren and Georgia (Ditterline) Lemmon, he was born December 18, 1953, in Anna, Illinois. He married Polly Johnson on June 8, 1974, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard, where they still attend.

Loren attended Harvard High School and Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, receiving a BA in mathematics. He also received a MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and a Masters in School Administration from NIU. He worked for Deans Foods as Vice President of their transportation company, and as a commissary manager for Domino's Pizza. After choosing to leave the business sector and return to "the family business" of education, he was a math teacher at Lundahl Jr. High in Crystal Lake and Harvard High School and later the business manager for Huntley District 158 and Lake Zurich District 95. He thoroughly enjoyed his work. He considered coaching junior high football and basketball and high school basketball and soccer as great perks in his teaching career. He so enjoyed working with his math students and school sport teams.

He is survived by his wife, Polly of Huntley, three sons, Russ (Kristin) of Madison, Wisconsin, Eric (Lisa) of Liberty, Missouri, Brian (Jessica) of Boise, Idaho; and one daughter, Elizabeth (Brian) Fodrey of Mebane, North Carolina. He was the very proud grandfather of Colin, Kyle, and Nora Lemmon, Ryan, Lindsey, Kate, Lucy, and Nolan Lemmon, Bodie Lemmon and Landon and Alyssa Fodrey. Two sisters, Linda (John) Bigelow, of Janesville, Wisconsin and Becky Smith of Carthage, Illinois; brother-in-law, John Kilhoffer; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Georgia Lemmon; sister, Carmen Kilhoffer; and infant sister, Dixie.

Loren enjoyed sports, music, travel, his dogs, and most of all spending time with his family. He was a long-time member of the Trinity choir and enjoyed playing his trumpet in his younger years. His favorite teams to cheer on were his children's and his grandchildren's teams and he was also a big fan of the Cubs, Packers and Bulls.

A memorial gathering in celebration of Loren's life will be held 4:00 to 7:00 PM Fri., March 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, and again from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM memorial service Sat., March 17. The Rev. Elizabeth Martin will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard, Illinois or Animal House Shelter, 13005 Ernesti Rd, Huntley, Illinois 60142.
