WAUNAKEE, Wis. – Mary J. Nothnagel, 99, formerly of Harvard, passed away quietly in her sleep on Oct. 11, 2013.|
She was born in Harvard on Dec. 8, 1913, the daughter of James and Emily (McQuaid) Shepard. She met her husband, Fred Nothnagel, at a summer dance where he was playing banjo. They were married April 9, 1948.
She worked many jobs over the years. She was proud that money from the first was used to buy an automatic stoker so the family didn't have to shovel coal.
She enjoyed entertaining, playing cards, visiting friends and fishing. She loved summer vacations, just sitting on a lake somewhere in Wisconsin.
She is survived by her brother, Gene (Ruth) Shepard; son, Fred (Jean) Nothnagel; grandchildren, Rob (Sandra) and Peter Arsenty and Veronica Nothnagel; great-grandchildren, Erich, Kristopher and Alexander Arsenty and Ryan Hajost; great-great-grandson, Myles Arsenty; and her special family, Bob and Ginny Arsenty and their sons, Bill and Neil.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; daughter, Jane; and brother, Jack.
Special thanks for years of care to the nurses and staff at Waunakee Manor.
Mary will be buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Harvard. Services will be private.
