Died: July 1, 2014; Spring Grove, IL

Orian G. Brown, age 93, of Spring Grove, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 while in the company of family members, at Burr Oak Manor, Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Orian was born in New Haven, Iowa on July 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Perry and Mary (Elgas) Elliott. She was a graduate of Visitation High School in Stacyville, Iowa. She was married to Walter F. Brown on June 25, 1940 in Stacyville and he died October 13, 1992. She worked as a clerk at U.S. Post Office for over 15 years retiring in the mid 1980's and also the Fish Hatchery in Spring Grove.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Spring Grove and sang in the church choir for many years and was a member of the Christian Mother's Club.

She loved handiwork, sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, gardening, bowling until she was 88, dancing and especially making homemade candy.

Orian is survived by a son,Charles (Patty) Brown, of Spring Grove, IL; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Douty, of Adams, MN; Isabelle Mullenbach, of Johnsburg, MN; two brothers, Dean (Virginia) Elliott, of Rose Creek, MN and John (Theresa) Elliott, of Rolling Stone, MN and brother-in-law Fred Bissen of Stacyville, IA.

She was preceded by twin sons, Donald and Dale; a daughter, Pauline Parker; a grandson, Don Brown; four sisters, Myrna Bissen, Carol Vogel, Pauline Blaser, Alice Elliott; and a brother, Michael Elliott.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday, July 7, 2014 at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, 10011 Main St., Richmond. Mass of Resurrection will be at 1:00 pm Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2118 Main St., Spring Grove, IL. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Spring Grove, IL.
