GENOA CITY, Wis. – Richard Alex Anderson, 83, of Genoa City, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at his home.|
He was born April 18, 1929, in Chicago to Forrest and Irene (Spitzer) Anderson. On May 20, 1952, he married Patricia Ann Harris in Rockford.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served as a first lieutenant.
He had been employed by J.L. Clark Manufacturing Co., of Rockford and Downers Grove, as a plant manager until his retirement.
He founded the Lake Benedict/Tombeau Lake Management District.
He was an avid golfer and served on a several boards. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who most enjoyed spending time at the lake surrounded by family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patricia Anderson of Genoa City; five children, Gregory A. (Laurie) Anderson, Keith R. (Melanie) Anderson, Diane (Roger) Gerstad, Barb (Tom) Smiles and Pam (Troy) Smith; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Gretchen, Cory, Lindsey, Andrew, R.C., Paige, Hannah, Harrison and Abby.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Forrest Anderson.
The visitation will be for family and close friends. Interment will be private.
Memorials may be made to the Northern Illinois Food Bank or to the Seasons Hospice Foundation.
