Robert A. Gagnon Obituary
ANTIOCH – Robert A. Gagnon, 70, of Antioch, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
He was born April 7, 1943, in Chicago, the son of the late Emmanuel and Evelyn (Filaitreault) Gagnon.
Bob has served as a Permanent Deacon at St. Peter Church in Antioch for over two decades, where he has taken great and many parts in teaching, aiding, volunteering and serving in countless ways.
Among his responsibilities as a Deacon, Bob was also a prominent member of the Clown Club, developed the Active Adult of Tomorrow Teen Club, taught CCD and PreCana, and took part in Marriage Encounter.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #3800 Fr. Henderson Council, and chaplain for the Antioch Police Department, as well as the St. Peter Church Choir, St. Vincent de Paul, the Exchange Club of Antioch (serving as president frin 1988-89), and numerous other voluntary positions.
He was known as a loving, positive, wonderful, caring, humorous and great man; he will always be remembered with those traits in mind, as well as for his homilies (and the props used to convey his message!).
He loved his family with all of his heart and soul, as well as St. Peter Church and all of its parishioners.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Faith (nee Clark); three children, Christopher (Elizabeth) Gagnon of Johnsburg, Indus (David) Kreutz of Ivanhoe and Timothy (Kimberly) Gagnon of San Diego; 10 grandchildren, Maaike, Cameron, Sarah, Ian, Emily, Andrew, Wesley, Hunter, Nicholas and Ellie; siblings, William (Debra) Gagnon of San Diego and Marie (William) Bateman of Temecula, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He loved his God and his family with a fervor that was immeasurable.
Funeral services with Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch.
The visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the church.
Interment will be private in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Antioch.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, c/o 671 S. Lewis Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085, in Bob's memory.
