CRYSTAL LAKE – Ruth L. Hall, 100, of Crystal Lake, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013.|
She was born Oct. 8, 1912, in Garrett, Ind., to Samuel Moste and Lillian (Strick) Moste.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Hall, who died in 2001 after 66 years of marriage.
Ruth graduated in 1930 from Bowen High School in Chicago. She was vice president of her graduating class.
She worked for Homewood Public School District 153 for 13 years as secretary to the special education director. She was also a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in Woodstock and Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
Ruth enjoyed crafts, ceramics and was a prolific painter. She and her husband, Harry, delivered "Loads of Love" bread to new members of the First Congregational Church for 13 years.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Harvey T. (Cheryl) Hall of Fresno, Calif., and J Loren (Vicki) Hall of Lakewood. Also surviving are grandson, Brett Hall; and granddaughters, Kimberly Hall, Stacey (Lee) Van Syckle and Shannon (Scott) Tithof.
She also leaves great-grandchildren, Sydney, Jacob, Jared and McKenna Hall, Clay and Cade Van Syckle, and Wyatt and Lincoln Tithof. Niece Janice Jameson of Chicago also remains.
A memorial service will be at noon Sunday, Sept. 22, at the First Congregational Church, 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake.
Memorials may be made on her behalf to the church.
