He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Merryman Excavating Co.
Shannon also was a member of the Local 150 union of heavy machine operators. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and spending time with his boys.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Reeves; sons, Andrew Reeves, Jakob Reeves, Mitchell Reeves and Hunter Reeves; former wife, Dayna Reeves; sister, Sherry (Harold) Wiese; grandmother, Doris Harris; stepmother, Linda Reeves; stepbrothers, Daniel and Dwyane Krenzelok; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald, who passed away July 24, 2012; and his sister, Candace, who died in 1968.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home in Huntley.
A funeral service to celebrate Shannon's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the funeral home. His uncles, Darryl Reeves and Clayton Harris, will officiate.
