Sheryl Ann Zurowski Obituary
Sheryl Ann ZUROWSKI

Sheryl Ann (Daly) Zurowski, age 69, formerly of Janesville, WI, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018, in Bradenton, FL. She graduated from Janesville High School in1967.

Sheryl was a beloved wife, mother, and sister. Sheryl started working at her family's FROSTOP Drive In in Janesville, WI even while attending High School. While there, she learned all aspects of this small retail business that turned out to be the perfect platform for her future career with retail employers. It was there she innately developed her customer-oriented skills which were probably a result of her strong Irish heritage. It would become the basis of her success for her entire business career.

No matter whether her retail employer was a regional department store or America's largest retailer, Sheryl always had loyal employees that she would share her customer-oriented skills with. It was not uncommon for customers to seek her out and rely on her recommendations. These people knew she would go the extra mile to make certain they left with exactly what they wanted. Plus, she treated each and every customer as if he or she were her best friend. Her customers would always acknowledge Sheryl as their friend whenever they would cross paths with her in public.

Sheryl and her family resided in several locations in the Midwest before finally settling in Bradenton, FL, in 2010. They had two stints in the Chicago, IL suburbs one for four years in Roselle, IL, immediately following her marriage to Tom Zurowski in Oct., 1977, and the next for 29 years in Crystal Lake, respectively. These Illinois stays were interrupted when she and her family took up residence in the Kalamazoo, MI area for three years.

Everywhere Sheryl lived, she earned the reputation as the go-to caretaker for severely distressed plants. She would always take-in plants others would leave at the curb for the sanitation department to pick-up. She would say these sad plants were only mostly dead. With her Green Thumb and her constant care she would breathe new life into each one of them. Sometimes she would return them to their original owners as a gift along with explicit directions on how to keep them healthy.

She was also known for her legendary parties and homemade cooking that accompanied them. For instance, her next St. Patrick's Day soiree was anticipated beginning the day after the previous year's event. And, despite the fact that the number of guests would oftentimes surpass each party's invitation list, she somehow always made certain there was enough food and drink for guests to enjoy.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lillian Daly.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Tom; her daughter, Natalie (nee Speer)Messelt; and her three siblings, Dr. Richard Daly, Marilyn (Daly) Bumsted, Barbara Daly.

A service will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Janesville on August 11 at 11:00am, followed by a gathering of family and friends at O'Riley & Conway's.
