Shirley I. Rowe, age 89, of McHenry, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock.

She was born March 29, 1929 in Chicago to Paul and Anna (Holm) Morck. On April 15, 1950 she married Herbert W. Rowe in Chicago. Herb and Shirley moved out to McHenry after they were married and lived in the family summer home on McCullom Lake until Herb and family members built their home. After raising three children, Shirley started a 25 year career as a ward clerk then pharmacy tech at McHenry Hospital.

Shirley was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, shopping, going out to lunch with friends, loved watching her grandson's and great grandson's baseball games. She especially loved playing card games with her friends, which had continued after she entered the nursing home.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Donna (Scott) Anderson, Kari (Greg) Bartos, Bill (Diane) Rowe; six grandchildren, Zach Bartos, Nicholas Bartos, Lucas Bartos, Emily Rowe, Kristi (Shane Simonton) Anderson, Erik Rowe; two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Olivia; a sister, Ann DiLenge; a brother, Paul (Rose) Morck; cousins, Irene Fowler, Rolf (Barbara) Osland; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many cousins in Norway.

After 67 years of marriage, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Herb on July 25, 2017; a sister, Adeline (Joseph) Beierle; a brother, LeRoy (Myrtle) Morck; and two nephews, Michael Beierle and Timothy Morck.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. funeral service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green St., McHenry, IL 60050.
