WOODSTOCK – Stephen Carl Amraen, 61, of Woodstock, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.|
He was born on Nov. 3, 1950, in Chicago to John C. and Rita V. (Pietrowski) Amraen. He married Monica Daum on Dec. 26, 1975, in Chicago.
Stephen was a veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock, where he was an usher at Saturday Night Mass for many years. He worked as an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service. He was also very active with the AYSO for many years, serving on the board as well as coaching. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Monica Amraen; his son, Stephen Amraen; his brothers and sisters, Sandra (Charles) Scott, Janet (Michael) Martorano, David (Denise) Amraen, Marsha (Pat McGuire) Amraen, Laurie Seaman and John (Linda) Amraen; as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Ellen Amraen; and a brother-in-law, Barry Seaman.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the funeral Mass is celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave., Woodstock. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.
