He was born May 23, 1932, in Chicago, to Henry and Margaret Thompson. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked for more than 30 years as a salesman for Salerno Cookies. Tommy lived in the Cary and Crystal Lake area until 2001, when he retired to Florida. In his free time he enjoyed gambling, the Florida sunshine and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Chris) Thompson, Glenn (Monika) Thompson, Debra (Josh) St. John and Brenda Thompson; his grandchildren, Cameron St. John and Marlayna, Rylan and Eastyn Thompson; and his sister, Eileen (Robert) Wallace.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Military honors and a time of eulogies will be at 5 p.m.
