WONDER LAKE – Clarence Smith, 70, of Wonder Lake, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois Inpatient Care Unit in Woodstock.
He was born Sept. 13, 1941, in Manila, Ark., to Judd and Tinie (Grimsley) Smith. He married Delores Bauman on Nov. 4, 1961, in Harvard.
Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing and gardening. He worked for 19 years at the Woodstock Die Casting Company until the plant closed. Then he worked for 12 years at Walmart, which he greatly enjoyed. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially children. He loved to interact with the children and watch them play.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Delores Smith; his brother, Everett Moore of Woodstock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, George Redman, Jewell Redman, Harold Redman and Jesse Redman.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Capron Cemetery in Capron.
