WOODSTOCK – Carl C. Ohlrich, 78, of Woodstock, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock.
He was born in Woodstock on Sept. 12, 1933, to Wilbert C. and Faye (Gates) Ohlrich. He married Marilyn Smith on Oct. 19, 1957, in Johnsburg.
Carl served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock. He worked for many years as a masonry contractor, eventually becoming a building inspector for McHenry County.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and golfing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn Ohlrich; three children, Sandi (Scott) Thurnau, Terri (Mike) Hildreth and Tom (Sherry) Ohlrich; five grandchildren, Ricky, Erica and Megan Hildreth, and Karlee and Eric Ohlrich; and his sister, Wilna Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock.
The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave. in Woodstock. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.
