McHENRY – George William Hucker of McHenry passed away peacefully Monday, May 28, 2012. |
He was born in 1916 in Wooster Lake, Ill., to William George and Margaret (nee Rosing) Hucker.
He was the last surviving member of the original Fox Lake Rescue Squad. He also was a gravel pit operator, excavator, policeman, road commissioner, bait-shop owner, heavy equipment operator, gardener, volunteer fireman, rescue squad member and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending church, playing cards and dining out.
George will be deeply missed by his dear children, Dolores Meyer of McHenry, Rosalie (Gary) Gross of New Hampshire and Russell (Cindy) Hucker of McHenry; grandchildren, Jason (Julie) Meyer of Ringwood, George W. Hucker III of Wauconda, Kenneth Hucker of Wauconda, Gary Gross Jr. of North Carolina, Matthew (Mel) Gross of Utah, Christy (Robert) Patzin of McHenry, Trisha (Michael) Cardona of Johnsburg and Russell Hucker, Jr. of McHenry; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jill Meyer, Danielle and Kyle Hucker, Quinn and Catlin Gross, Owen and Jack Patzin and Karsen Cardona; and sisters-in-law, Fridel Weber of Ingleside and Lois Weber of McHenry.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sophie; son, George W. Hucker, Jr.; his parents; brothers Arthur and Albert Hucker; and grandson, Robert "Robbie" Hucker.
The visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, until the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Road, Ingleside. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Johnsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to FISH Food Pantry of McHenry, 3705 N. Richmond Road, Johnsburg, IL 60051 would be appreciated.
