WOODSTOCK – Marilyn Jean West, 82, of Alden, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock. |
Marilyn was born March 30, 1930, in Belvidere, to the late Charles and Velma (Pippin) Hays.
She was a 1950 graduate of Marengo High School and worked for Marengo Telephone for two years.
She married Lorens "Larry" West on Aug. 15, 1951, in Marengo. He died June 8, 2010.
She was co-owner/partner and bookkeeper/accountant for Hebron Waste Disposal of Hebron for more than 18 years. She retired in 1991.
She was a member of Alden United Methodist Church and was active with the United Methodist Women.
She was a Girl Scout Leader,
4-H leader, past president of Alden Community Club, charter member of Community Builders and served on the Alden Cemetery Board.
Marilyn is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Gregory) Meyer; two sons, Lorens "Larry" (Dawn) West and Timothy West, all of Alden; five grandchildren, Gwenn Dhom, Simone West, Austin West, Lucas Meyer, Matthew Meyer; three great-grandchildren, Edward Dhom, Chloe Dhom and Lucy Dhom; a sister, Rowena (the late Robert) White, of Belvidere; and a brother, Donald (Laura) Hays of Bemidge, Minn., and sister-in-law Rosemary Ruff of Florida.
The memorial visitation will be from 9 a.m. until memorial services at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at Alden United Methodist Church, 16532 Route 173, Harvard. The Rev. Jim Bell will officiate.
Private family inurnment will be in Alden Cemetery in Alden.
