LaBELLE, Mo. – Opal Adkins, 91, of LaBelle, died Friday, July 27, 2012, at the LaBelle Manor Care Center at LaBelle.
The daughter of Johnny Daniel and Dona Netherton Crowe, she was born July 13, 1921, in Gamaliel, Ky. She married Amon Harley Adkins on Oct. 17, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo.
She is survived by her husband, Amon Harley Adkins of LaBelle; three sons, Harley Dean Adkins and wife, Carol, of Canton, Mo., Dwain Adkins of Sycamore; and Ray Adkins of Woodstock; five grandchildren, Gail (Adkins) Timmer, Kristina (Adkins) Coutchie, Jonathan Adkins, Jason Adkins and Jennifer (Adkins) Stroh; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob Timmer, Jon Michael Stroh, Macarther Adkins, Anderson Stroh, Nicholas Adkins, Thomas Coutchie, Camden Stroh, Maggie Coutchie and Keegan Stroh; a sister, Mrs. Ruenell Carteel of Lovington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Adkins; two sisters, Delma Simmons and Norretta Kirkwood; and two brothers, Carl Mack Crowe and Tim Crowe.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodstock, with the Rev. Roger Willis officiating.
