McCULLOM LAKE – Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Simon, 61, of McCullom Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
She was born May 11, 1951, in Chicago to James and Nadia (Chernikovich) Reichert.
Mary generously volunteered her time at several area charities. She volunteered at the Head Start Center at Shepherd of the Hills Church, at the Head Start Center at School District 155 and 47 in Crystal Lake, and at Pioneer Center. She was a member of the Centegra Auxiliary and volunteered at the Pink Door. She was a doting grandmother, treasured her time with her family and loved baking bread.
She is survived by five children, David (Jeanne) Wechselberger of McHenry, Kathy (Pete) Mazik of Lake Villa, Robert Simon, Debbie Dawdy and Jean Harper; six grandchildren, Tabatha, Wendy, Gordy, Peter, J.D. and Gabrielle; several step-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda (the late Edward) Woltersdorf.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Aug. 4, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green St., McHenry.
Inurnment will be private.
