WEST DUNDEE – The visitation for Bruce E. Tietgen will be from 9 a.m. until a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 485 Woodstock St.
Bruce lost his courageous 18-month battle with a malignant brain tumor July 15, 2012. He died at home with his loving wife and his brother at his bedside.
Bruce was born April 21, 1939, to Ella (Gerth) and William Tietgen in Chicago. He married Elaine Rooks of Ottawa, on Sept. 21, 1968, in Chicago.
He was a graduate of Schurz High School, and Northwestern University with a degree in marketing. He had been a 34-year employee of Kar Products in Des Plaines until his retirement in 2000.
After his retirement, he fulfilled his life through involvement in many community service organizations and activities. Bruce loved life and people. He would have this advice for you: Take great joy in each day you live and find great pleasure in the simple things of life.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elaine; his kitty, Barnabas; his brother, Bill of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Please no flowers. If you wish, so that others may someday be spared what Bruce endured during his illness, please make a donation to: American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Suite 550, Chicago, IL 60631, or if you prefer, the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, P.O. Box  501, Rosemont, IL 60018.
