ROCKFORD – William M. Poggensee, 72, of Rockford and formerly of Algonquin, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, in Madison, Wis.
He was born April 15, 1940, in Chicago, to William and Mildred Poggensee.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine; six children, George Parker, Tamara Johnson, Robert (Carrie) Poggensee, Pamela (Jay) McManaman, Curtis Poggensee and Mark Poggensee; and four siblings, Donald (Shirley), Dennis, Dwight and Jeffrey Poggensee. He is also survived by many grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Parker; and sister, Jean Haling.
The memorial visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Burial will be private in Bluff City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
