She was born Feb. 21, 1947, in Chicago, to Frederick and Bernice (Walsh) Cook. In August 1978, she married Jay Locascio, who preceded her in death in 2007.
She worked as a secretary in the building department of Cary Village Hall for more than 20 years. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, shopping, playing cards and, in her younger years, dancing with her husband, Jay. She loved animals and volunteered at PetSmart.
She is survived by her children, Jason (Lisa) Zakrzewski, Tracey (Cory) Scalise, Denise (Tom) Gschwind, Tina (Joe) Gawerecki, Jay (Jenny) Locascio, and Nick (Leslie) Locascio; grandchildren, Katie, Julie, Crystal, Tony, Aeva, Christopher (Tegan), Justin, Cevin, Zachary, Joseph, Brandon, Abigail, Anthony and Isabella; two great-grandchildren; brother, Don (the late Terry) Cook; sisters, Carole (Mike) Brogan and Nancy Cook; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Bob Cook.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 471 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Cremation rites will be accorded.
