McHENRY – Frank E. Schmidt, 68, of McHenry, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.|
He was born April 23, 1944, in Chicago, to Frank J. and Opal Mae (Robinson) Schmidt.
On Dec. 22, 1991, he married Susan Nickol in McHenry.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Having worked for Local Roofing Co. for 25 years as a salesman, he loved his work and the people he met.
An avid sports fan, he loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears and golfing with his buddies on the Pistakee Thursday night golf league.
Frank enjoyed making breakfast and following the weather.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Susan Schmidt of McHenry; children, Bryan Schmidt of Williston, N.D., Bradley Schmidt of Los Angeles, Calif., Heather (Bob) Schmidt of Cypress, Calif., and Angela (Eric) Zaleski of Crystal Lake; seven grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, Joshua, Taylor, Patrick, Colton and Reese; brothers, Charles (Susan) Schmidt and Mike Schmidt, both of Lilymoor; sisters-in-law, Barb Schmidt and Connie Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Philip, Fred and Thomas (Carol) Schmidt; and sister-in-law, Jackie Schmidt.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. The visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral Mass celebration at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road, McHenry. Interment will be private for the family.
