CRYSTAL LAKE – George R. Rogers, 72, of Crystal Lake, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at his home.|
He was born Oct. 26, 1940, in Dearborn, Mich., to Clarence and Ethel (Stephens) Rogers. On Aug. 12, 1967, he married Barbara Beutell in Dearborn.
He served in the Air National Guard for several years.
He worked for United Airlines for 39 years before his retirement in 1999. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV, including being "snowbirds" in Florida. He was a Ford Mustang enthusiast, enjoying both car shows and cruise nights.
He also was well-known within his family and in the Crystal Lake area for his baking, especially his cookies.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Geoffrey (Jessica) Rogers and Kathleen (Robert) Krystal; and grandchildren, Alexander Rogers, Matthew, Mackenzie, Molly and Morgan Krystal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Julia Ruth Toles.
The visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The visitation will continue from 9:30 until the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Ridgefield Cemetery.
