Obituary Condolences

McHENRY – Richard M. Lindquist, 78, of McHenry, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry.
He was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Rock Creek, Minn., to John E. and Marie (Nelson) Lindquist.
Richard was raised in Rush City, Minn., where he graduated from Rush City High School. He came to Woodstock at the age of 17 to work on the railroad.
At 22, he started working as a carpenter for Local 250, beginning a career that would span 44 years.
Richard met his future wife, Marie Metcalf, at the McHenry Roller Rink. They married Dec. 1, 1956, at St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake.
Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who was a regular at his grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed retirement, and especially enjoyed taking bus trips to try his luck at the casino. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and yard work and loved to go fishing in Minnesota. He looked forward to regular meetings with his McDonald's coffee group, as well as doing crossword puzzles. He enjoyed visiting with his good friend, John ""Jack"" Daniels.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie; four children, Laura (Denny) Christmas of Johnsburg, Rich Lindquist of McHenry, David (Dan Kakazu) of Crystal Lake and Liane (Mike) Boettcher of Lisle; four grandchildren, Caitlin and Cori Christmas and Miranda and Michael Lindquist; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Lindquist of Fort Smith, Ark., and Elaine Metcalf of Round Lake Park; a brother-in-law, Tom (Betty) Metcalf of Gurnee; and his former daughter-in-law, Judy Lindquist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur, in infancy, and John Lindquist; and a brother-in-law, Al Metcalf.
The visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Roger Schneider officiating. Inurnment will be private.
