MERIDIAN, Idaho – Phyllis Carolyn Butow passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013.|
She was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Evanston, the oldest of five children born to Douglas and Lillian Butow.
She is survived by her three children, Gordon Schaefgen (Sherrie), Donna Schaefgen Verheijen (Frans) and Steven Schaefgen (Debbie). She is also survived by her brothers, Bob and Tom Butow; her eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She has been residing in Meridian, Idaho, since 2005, where her daughter, Donna, also lives and has been caring for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jacqueline of McHenry; and her brother, Doug of Glen Haven, Colo.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Senior Citizen Groups and other church groups.
She worked full time at Precision Twist Drill as an office manager, bookkeeper and secretary until 1977 when she moved to San Diego, Calif., and then settled in Meridian in 2005.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie. She will be laid to rest beside her mother and father. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, if so desired.
