WATERTOWN, Wis. – Joan E. Strand, 84, of Watertown, Wis., passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Watertown.|
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, with the Rev. Ron Kral of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects from 1:30 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to MADD or to Rainbow Hospice would be appreciated.

Joan Ellen Brown was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Flushing, N.Y., the daughter of Harold and Effie (Jevens) Brown. On Oct. 6, 1951, she married Robert Strand in Jackson Heights, N.Y.
She was active in various churches' outreach ministry programs as a Registered Nurse.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Watertown; three children, Barbara (Eric Kropp) Strand MD of Oshkosh, Melissa (James) Debus of Fort Mills, S.C., and Robert E. (Gregg Siegel) Strand of New York City, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Alexander Kropp, Kevin Kropp, Adam Kropp, McKenna Debus, Tanner Debus and Brennika Debus; a niece, Karen Heston; two nephews, James Winton and David Winton: and other relatives and friends.
Joan was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruth Winton.
