Raymond J. Wojciechowski Born: May 6, 1927; in Chicago Died: May 2, 2014; in Johnsburg Raymond J. Wojciechowski, age 86, of Johnsburg, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at his residence. He was born May 6, 1927, in Chicago, to Walter J. and Josephine Wojciechowski. He married the love of his life, Margaret R. Melka, on April 24, 1954. Prior to living in Johnsburg, he was a resident of Hanover Park. A veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, he served during World War II and during the Korean War. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed traveling and going on gambling outings. Other enjoyments included garage sales, playing poker, and gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the McHenry Moose Lodge 691 and the Knights of Columbus Council 9167 of Johnsburg, and was active with the Boy Scouts. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Margaret; five children, Diane (Bill) Stark of Oakwood Hills, Regina (Rick) Budinger of Menomonie, WI, Paul (Laura) Wojciechowski of Spring Grove, Mark (Carol) Wojciechowski of McHenry, and Janet (Keith) Bundgard of McHenry; grandchildren, Melissa, Tim, Erik, Stephanie, Kyle, Max, Bridget, Chloe, and Raymond; and great-grandchildren, Trevor, Madison, and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Steve and Theodore "Ted"; and sisters, Betty, Bernice, and Elaine. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. Visitation will resume at the funeral home Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. prayers before leaving for the 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Johnsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested by his family to the Heartland Hospice.
