LaVerne E. Schuring Sr., age 69, of McHenry, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. He was born October 22, 1944, in Woodstock, to George E. and Lillian (Brennecka) Schuring. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Vietnam war as a Seabee. He was employed by Plote Construction for over 30 years, and retired in 2004. Prior to moving to McHenry in 1983, he was a resident of Algonquin. A loving father and doting grandfather, LaVerne favored most anything country & western. He enjoyed rodeos and country music, and most often wore boots.
Survivors include five children, LaVerne E. Jr. (Stephanie) Schuring of Bloomington, Christina Didech of Barrington, Cheryl Hernandez of McHenry, Michael Schuring of Delavan, WI, and Dawn Bravata of McHenry; grandchildren, Hailey, Cassie, Angel, George, Ty, Madeleine, Piper, Xavier, Aidan, Makenna, Annika, and Lindy; great-grandchildren, Logan; two brothers, Roger (Linda) Schuring, and David (Judy) Schuring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold, in infancy, and Kenneth Schuring; and three sisters, Dianne Madsen, Vickie Krueger, and Traci Moyer.
Friends may visit with his family from noon until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
