Jeanette C. Odean, age 84, of Crystal Lake, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, at Centegra Memorial Hospital in Woodstock. She was born in Chicago on June 1, 1930, the daughter of Heinrich and Clara (Ehlert) Dautel. On March 7, 1953 she married William C. Odean. She was a long time Sunday school teacher, and also active in scouting and other youth programs.
As a point of pride, Jeanette worked all her life, retiring at age 79. She was a highly skilled administrator and manager, who was well regarded by all who worked with her, and for her.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William "Bill" Odean; her children, Geoffrey Odean of Crystal Lake, Martin (Odette) Odean of Chicago, Richard Odean of Crystal Lake and Holly (Bryan) Carpenter of Lyons; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren; she is also survived by a sister, Clare (Rudolph) Bellon of DesPlaines; and a brother, Henry (Carol) Dautel of Crystal Lake; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant daughter, Marilyn.
Visitation to be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W. Crystal Lake Ave. Funeral Friday. She will be lying in State 10:00 AM until time of service 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church. Interment will be private.
