Vernon C. Rousey

Born: Aug. 28, 1947; in Belvidere, IL

Died: June 27, 2014; in San Antonio, TX

Vernon C. Rousey Jr., passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014, in San Antonio, TX at the age of 66. He was born on August 28, 1947, in Belvidere, IL. He attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Vern worked for Jewel Foods in several Northern Illinois locations. He moved to San Antonio, TX and began working for H-E-B Food Stores as a Manager of Pricing. He worked for H-E-B for many years before retiring in 2006. While living in San Antonio, he coached several baseball teams, which was one of his passions. He was also a past-season ticket holder for the San Antonio Spurs basketball team and would attend games every chance he had. He looked forward to his weekly poker game with the guys. Verns' favorite vacation spot was Disney World, and he visited frequently. He was also a Chicago Cubs fan and a Green Bay Packer fan. A visitation was held in San Antonio on July 2nd for his friends and former co-workers.

He is survived by three sisters, Verlene Ducey of McHenry, Trudy (Douglas) Kottke of Woodstock, and Roxann (Richard) Wascher of East Dundee; two nieces, Andrea Wascher and Jacqueline (Michael) Amber; two nephews, Bradley (Rebecca) Kottke and Eric (fianc e Martha Buttitto) Kottke; a great niece, Reagan Kottke; and two great nephews, Caleb and Joshua Amber; as well as many friends, former co-workers, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlene and Vernon Sr.; and a brother-in-law, Christopher Ducey.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock. Burial will follow at McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock.
