Alice Mae Wilcox, 94, of Woodstock, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at the JourneyCare Hospice Inpatient Care Unit in Woodstock.
She was born on June 30, 1920, in Ringwood, IL to Robert James Elder Low and Viola Mae (Beatty) Low. She married Walter E. Wilcox on October 9, 1946, in Greenwood.
Alice was a longtime member of the McHenry County Historical Society. She worked as a seamstress for many years tailoring the uniforms for the McHenry County Sheriff's Office among countless other articles of clothing and sewing projects. She loved sewing for her many nieces; this included several wedding dresses as well as several apricot bridesmaid dresses. She also enjoyed baking.
She is survived by her brother, Robert (Susan) Low; her sister, Doris Cristy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter E. Wilcox on March 9, 2009; and her brother, Walter Low.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock. The visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donors' choice.
